4 Charities. 4,000km. 1 unfit 40 year old idiot.
The Challenge
On 19 January 2027, I turn 40. Between now and then, I'm going to travel 4,000 kilometres entirely under my own steam - running, cycling, swimming, kayaking, rowing, and probably a few methods nobody's thought of yet.
That's roughly 15km a day, every day, for the best part of a year. Some of it will be through the hills and lochs of Galloway. Some of it will be at midnight on a turbo trainer. All of it will be tracked, documented, and shared.
Along the way, I want to raise money for causes that matter. And I want the people who back me to have a real say in where it goes.
The Twist
Donate any amount. Pick a number between 1 and 3,999. That's your prediction for how many kilometres I'll travel before my 40th birthday. The person closest to my actual total gets to direct every penny raised to a charity of their choice from the 20 most popular charities in the UK.
How It Works
Three steps. That's it.
Make a donation. Pick any whole number between 1 and 3,999. That's your bet on how far I'll go.
My Four Charities
If I win and get to pick, this is where the money goes. I'll share more about why each one matters to me throughout the challenge.
If You Win
You pick the charity - from any of these, or mine.
If I fall short of 4,000km, the winner is whoever's number is closest to my actual total. They can direct all donations to any charity from the list below - or choose to split it between my four picks instead.
If more than one person picks the same number or the same closest distance, the money is split equally between them and each gets to nominate their chosen charity.
